True Umbrella Can Fill Insurance Gaps
Have you checked your insurance policy exclusions? ‘True umbrella’ can fill the gaps.
Insurance might be considered a boring topic. But here’s a true and interesting story: A number of years ago in Chicago, an insurance company made possible the detonation of the infamous “Bartman Ball.” No other insurance company would insure the event.
For those not familiar with the story, the Bartman Ball was the baseball missed by Chicago Cubs outfielder Moses Alou (see video) in 2003 when Cubs fan Steve Bartman unfortunately reached over the left field fence and interfered with the catch. The Cubs went on to lose Game 6 of the National League Championship Series and the ball (and Bartman) achieved wide notoriety.
The hated ball ended up being owned by Chicago restaurant owner Grant DePorter. As a promotional stunt and charity event, DePorter decided to publicly blow it up as a good luck gesture for the Cubs.
However, he needed liability insurance to explode the ball, but policies excluded such an event. Insurance entrepreneur Rick Lindsey, who now heads XINSURANCE, heard about the dilemma. He quickly consulted with explosive experts who told him the detonation probably wouldn’t do any damage. So Lindsey’s company insured the demolition of the Bartman Ball (see video) – and Lindsey very much enjoyed doing it.
Lindsey is an insurance innovator, maverick and iconoclast. He doesn’t follow the insurance crowd. He still enjoys insuring high-risk activities, and filling the gaps and exclusions in other company’s policies.
Most insurance companies are timid and highly risk-averse. That’s why they place exclusions in their liability policies, even in their so-called “umbrella” policies. They don’t want to cover high-risk activities, so they exclude them in the fine print.
Lindsey frequently encourages individuals and businesses purchasing liability insurance to read the fine print – look for the gaps, limitations and exclusions. For example, will your insurance company cover claims resulting from COVID-19 infections? Or damage caused by an active shooter? Or riots or civil unrest?
XINSURANCE will fill those gaps and exclusions with “True Umbrella” coverage. “If you like your insurance, keep your insurance,” says Lindsey. “But you’d be surprised what those policies don’t cover. We’ll work with your agent to seamlessly fill those gaps in your existing policy, providing true peace of mind.” And yes, this applies to everyone who needs individual and commercial liability insurance.
Insurance agents are quickly learning that XINSURANCE isn’t a competitor, but instead allows them to sell a specialty, enhanced product that other companies don’t offer.
Today, XINSURANCE covers 700 risk classes, and is adding more. The firm insures sky-diving and parachuting, bungee jumping, avalanche experts, rock climbing and river running guides and outfitters, gymnastics and aerial arts, heli-skiing, and so forth. XINSURANCE will insure just about anything – corn mazes, acro-yoga, guard dogs, circuses, exotic pets, taverns, dating websites, midwives, hot air balloons, water parks, trampoline parks, concealed carry permit holders, and many more.
Because XINSURANCE has decades of experience covering categories that other companies exclude, it has no hesitation to fill the gaps and cover the exclusions.
For example, a pet-loving homeowner might have a good overall liability policy, except that the policy won’t cover the owner’s pit bull, or the trampoline in the backyard. XINSURANCE will step in and fill those gaps, working with the homeowner’s existing insurance agent.
Check the exclusions in your liability policies. Be wary of gaps. “True umbrella” insurance can provide complete peace of mind.
